There are three Board Members for Houlding On & Letting Go. Each member serves a three year term. We meet annually to review requests and plan activities/events to help support Breck. Friends of the board are welcome to attend all meetings. No board members or friends receive any compensation for their efforts.
Dawn Kuzma
board member and founder
Dawn was married to Alex Houlding for 35 years, and spent many hours there with him and the Breck team during the last year of his life. She founded this non-profit to support the team at Breck, and to help make sure this exceptional care will be available for others as it was for her husband.
Susan Marsnik
board member
Susan is a professor in the department of Ethics and Business Law at St. Thomas University, and a good friend to Alex who visited him almost weekly while he was at Breck, helping him remember his love of nonsense poetry. As secretary of the board, she is responsible for tracking meeting minutes, scheduling the annual Board Meeting, and documenting/ tracking requests for disbursements. In addition, her knowledge of non-profit governance requirements makes sure we are in compliance with our charter requirements.
Laura Houlding
board member
As Alex’s daughter, Laura knows first-hand the challenges that dementia brings to an entire family. She spent time helping care for Alex at home, and spent many hours with him at Breck as his bvFTD entered the final stage.
She helps manage financial records, and provides technical and administrative support to the board.
